The same day news was released that the New York Times plans to close the Boston Globe, the top story on GadgetBlips and TechBlips reveals a potentially saving grace for the spiraling industry.
According to a story published, ironically, on The New York Times Web site, newspaper and magazine publisher are looking to soon-to-be-released large screen Kindle-style e-readers to revive interest in their style of journalism, while saving millions on printing costs. Where the Kindle condensed thick literary volumes into the palm of your hand, these new “big screens” have the potential to condense a newspaper onto one six-inch screen.
In addition, Amazon, front-runner of the Kindle craze, has announced its intention to release these large-format readers later this week.
Regardless of it’s potential to rekindle (no pun intended) consumers’ love affair with printed works, these “jumbo Kindles” will be nice for those of us whose eyes are already straining to read their tiny iPhone texts.

It may be the trend of the future.
